At Holy Word, your soul will be fed with God's Word and you will be welcomed into the family.
We’re a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran church. It means we believe the Bible is God’s Word, Jesus is the only true Savior of all sinners, and that God graciously works through baptism and the Lord’s supper. Find out more about our beliefs.

Northeast Austin off I-35 and Braker Lane
Our front doors face the parking lot instead of the street, so come down the road next to the church off Bluff Bend and make your way into the parking lot to the right. A side entrance, near our childcare facility (Holy Word Christian Academy) is available for wheelchair access. Come on in. You will be welcomed like family.
We believe the family should worship together. We like the sound of children in church. If your child needs a break from the service, we have a room right off the main sanctuary with toys, bathroom, rocking chairs and speakers with the service audio coming through. There is kids bible study after church.
To become a member, we ask that you take a 10-lesson course on the foundational truths of the Bible. After completing the class and learning what Holy Word teaches, if you would like to join, you may make a request to one of our pastors. The pastoral staff then brings your request to the church leadership for approval.
If you never become a member, that’s okay with us. We are glad to build a friendship with you and to share God’s Word with you as long as you like.
Membership is a commitment—and with that commitment come blessings. When you become a member, you are saying, “This is my church, and my church claims me.”
The blessing of partnership. Our mission is “to go and grow with the Word.” Alone you could do that, but together we can do so much more. As members come together, each one contributes their God-given gifts to the mission. Like a body with many parts, a congregation working together can accomplish amazing things.
The blessing of encouragement. Scripture says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25) The road to heaven is not easy—the devil, the world, and our sinful nature fight against us every step of the way. That’s why we need brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage us. Sometimes that encouragement comes in sharing God’s promises, sometimes in loving accountability, sometimes in prayer or material support.
The blessing of care and involvement. Members receive the Lord’s Supper together, participate in congregational decisions, and receive pastoral care for life’s important moments—baptisms, weddings, counseling, and funerals.
We want membership to matter. The easier it is to become a member, the less it tends to mean.
We also want you to know exactly what you are joining. We want you to know what this church teaches so that when you do become a member, you can be confident that you agree. Few things harm a congregation more than disagreement about what the Bible teaches. By taking time at the beginning, we lay a strong foundation for unity, joy, and mission.
Not yet—but we want you to. Let us explain.
The Bible says, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:24) So the first question is: Do you know who Jesus is and what he has done for you?
The Bible also says, “Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.” (1 Corinthians 11:28) So the second question is: Do you know how to examine yourself, and have you done so?
Finally, the Bible says, “Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.” (1 Corinthians 10:17) So the third question is: Are you in unity with those with whom you are taking communion?
Because we want to honor God’s Word and his gracious gift of the Lord’s Supper, we don’t simply say, “come on up right away.” Instead, we invite you to study God’s Word with us. Once you know who Jesus is, how to examine yourself, and that you are united in faith with those at the table, then we joyfully welcome you to share in the Supper together.
Let us know you plan to visit.
